Art In Bloom returns with fashion and floral designs at the Springfield Art Museum

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Edited News Release/KY3) – The Springfield Art Museum is pleased to present Art In Bloom from Wednesday, April 24 through Sunday, April 28, throughout the Museum’s galleries.

This is the fifth Art In Bloom event that the Museum has hosted since 2018. This year, 25 local fashion designers and floral designers will interpret works of art on view in their chosen medium, flowers or custom-made garments.

Art In Bloom includes juried prize categories for featured designers, People’s Choice Awards, workshops, Museum retail, local vendors, and family art-making activities. To date, Art In Bloom has welcomed over 7,000 patrons, raised over $88,000 for art acquisitions, and awarded $11,500 in prize money to local designers. Proceeds from Art in Bloom sponsorships, paid events, pop-up retail merchandise, and People’s Choice Award vote sales benefit and strengthen the Museum’s art acquisition and exhibition efforts. The Museum has purchased work by 19 artists, 16 of whom were not previously represented in the Museum’s permanent collection, with funds raised through Art In Bloom.

This year’s juried prizes for fashion design will be awarded by Logan Aguirre, Publisher – 417 Magazine; Sarah Buhr, Curator of Art – Springfield Art Museum; and Dr. Jenifer J. Roberts, Merchandising and Fashion Design Department – Missouri State University. This year’s juried prizes for floral design will be awarded by three previous Art In Bloom Best Creative Design Winners: C.
