Asheville Regional Airport says TSA equipment issues, delays resolved after travel alert

Asheville Regional Airport officials issued a travel alert Saturday afternoon, June 22, urging passengers to allow for extra time to get through security until further notice.

Less than two hours after that alert was issued, TSA said the problem had been resolved and all screening lanes were back open.

At 3:40 p.m. Saturday, airport officials said TSA notified them that one screening lane was experiencing equipment issues. As a result, passengers were told to arrive 2.5 to 3 hours prior to scheduled departure, rather than the usual two-hour timeframe.

At 5:13 p.m., Asheville Regional Airport posted on X that TSA confirmed all screening equipment had returned to being operational, with all lanes back open.
