Assault, deceptive business practices, other charges lodged in Lycoming County district courts

Father jailed on assault-related charges following domestic disturbance

While holding the couple’s 10-month-old son in his arms, 33-year-old Darsean Eugene Mosley punched the baby’s mother multiple times in an apartment in the 900 block of West Fourth Street about 9 a.m. Monday, city police alleged in an affidavit. Each time Mosley took a swing at the woman, he bounced the baby’s head off a wall, causing “swelling to the head,” police alleged.

When the woman tried to call for help on her cellphone, Mosley grabbed hold of it and took off running after two other women came to the victim’s aid, the court document stated. Police did not say if Mosley, of 2801 Linn St., dropped the child on the floor or held on to him as he ran.

An officer chased after Mosley, who was quickly apprehended and arrested on charges of aggravated and simple assault, endangering the welfare of child, recklessly endangering another person, robbery and theft. Both the mother and baby were taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport to get treatment for their injuries, police said. Following his arraignment before District Judge Christian Frey, Mosley was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $95,000 bail.

Catering company owner arrested on felony charges

William Dalton Welch, 47, owner of B&C Catering, faces felony charges after failing to honor a contract with Sharon Murray, who paid him $3,842 in late September 2022 to cater her daughter’s wedding on Oct. 14, city police alleged in an affidavit. Murray signed a contract and secured Welch’s services with a $420 deposit in late September in 2022, police said. Two weeks before the 2023 wedding, Murray paid Welch the remainder of $3,422 that was owed, police said, adding that B&C Catering charged Murray $34 a person for 110 guests.

“On the morning of the wedding, Welch, of 2252 W. Third St., called Murray and told her that he could not cater the wedding. None of the previously agreed-upon services were fulfilled, and Welch refused to refund the money to Murray,” police alleged in the court document. Charged with theft by deception and deceptive business practices, Welch was arraigned Monday before District Judge Christian Frey and released on $5,000 bail.

City woman faces drug charge

Jocelynn Gardner-Fox, 37, of 815 W. Fourth St., has been charged with possession of a controlled substance after a detective from the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit seized a small amount of fentanyl from her at West Fourth Street and Wahoo Drive on Jan. 4, it was stated in an affidavit. She has waived her preliminary hearing and is free on bail. Chaddy Hill, 47, 808 Wayne Ave., allegedly sold the drug to Gardner-Fox and was arrested earlier this year. She too has since waived her hearing.

Child calls 911 as he watches parents fighting

It was just after 10 Friday night when the 911 dispatcher picked up the emergency line, and on the other end was an 8-year-old Old Lycoming Township child reporting that “his parents were fighting,” according to an affidavit filed by Lycoming Regional police. When officers arrived they interviewed a woman with “swelling to her left eye” and Marvin Henriquez, 39, at their apartment at 2000 Mill Lane. The woman reported that Henriquez picked her up at work and that the two “started fighting” once they got home, it was stated in the affidavit. At one point, Henriquez grabbed her by the neck, making it difficult for her to breathe, police alleged. A family member broke the two up, but soon Henriquez allegedly grabbed her a second time, police were told. “You’re hurting me,” the woman told him, police added.

Henriquez then went to the kitchen, picked up a knife and threatened to kill the woman, it was alleged in the court document. When he was questioned, Henriquez admitted the two argued, “but nothing physical happened,” the affidavit stated. Following his arraignment before District Judge Aaron Biichle on charges of felony strangulation, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment, Henriquez was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.
