ASUS Introduces Next-Generation ROG Maximus Hero BTF and X870 Motherboards
During Computex 2024, ASUS unveiled its latest motherboard innovations, including the ROG Maximus Hero BTF designed for upcoming Intel processors and the X870 motherboard tailored for the next generation of AMD Ryzen desktop processors. These motherboards are set for release in the latter half of 2024 and are engineered to support advanced features and connectivity options to meet the demands of future computing needs.
The ROG Maximus Hero BTF motherboard is compatible with the forthcoming Intel Arrow Lake processor family. It features a Back-to-Front (BTF) design, which relocates connectors to the rear of the motherboard, facilitating a cleaner and more organized cable management within PC builds. This design is particularly useful for users seeking a visually minimalistic internal layout. Additionally, the motherboard includes a high-power slot specifically for BTF graphics cards, such as the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 BTF, enhancing compatibility with high-end GPUs.
One of the standout features of the ROG Maximus Hero BTF is the introduction of the PCIe Slot Q-Release Slim mechanism. This feature simplifies the process of removing a graphics card by eliminating the need for manual release of the slot latch. Users can simply tilt the graphics card towards the latching mechanism to unlock it automatically, streamlining the process for upgrades and maintenance.
Turning to the ASUS X870 motherboard, it is prepared to accommodate the next-gen AMD Ryzen desktop processors. This board is designed from the ground up to support extensive CPU and memory overclocking capabilities. The X870 also includes support for multi-GPU configurations, which are becoming increasingly relevant as applications continue to leverage the enhanced processing power of multiple graphics cards.
For connectivity, the X870 motherboard offers a comprehensive suite of options. It includes support for PCIe 5.0 x16, which provides substantial bandwidth for high-performance graphics cards and other peripherals. Additionally, the motherboard features a 2.5 Gb Ethernet port for high-speed network connections, multiple M.2 slots for fast storage solutions, and USB4 support to ensure compatibility with the latest high-speed devices and peripherals. The inclusion of a high-bandwidth USB Type-C port on the rear I/O panel, along with a front-panel Type-C header, offers versatile connectivity options for various external devices.
