ASUS Unveils Latest Z890 & Z790 Motherboards: Arrow Lake-Ready BTF & CAMM2 Supporting HERO With DDR5-8000 Demo

ASUS has unveiled its next-generation ROG Maximus Z890 HERO BTF motherboard which features the LGA 1851 socket to support Intel’s next-gen Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs. The motherboard is packed with loads of features such as a quad DDR5 DIMM design, the latest PCIe 5.0 and Gen5 M.2 support, and has a very solid look and feel with the entire PCB covered with large heatsinks & face plates that add to the looks of this enthusiast-grade motherboard. The IO plate also comes with a huge “ROG Maximus” accent plate with RGB LEDs and you can see the iconic ROG eye logo on the PCH heatsink.

The most interesting thing about this motherboard is that it is a BTF design which means that all of the power connectors are placed at the rear side of the motherboard. The rear features dual 8-pin power inputs for the CPU and there’s also the newest 12V-2×6 connector on the back which will be powering the GC_HPWR connector that ASUS introduced last year.

The use of this connector means that the motherboard will have limited graphics card options to select from but it eliminates the use of the tedious 16-pin connectors. Furthermore, the motherboard along with many others will also be available later this year. This specific ROG Maximus HERO motherboard will also come in non-BTF flavors.

In addition to this, ASUS is also showcasing its latest ROG Maximus Z790 HERO motherboard with CAMM2 solutions. The motherboard features the CAMM2 connector and was shown running a single Kingston Fury Renegade DDR5 with 48 GB memory clocked at 8000 MT/s speeds without even requiring a cooling solution at just 41C which is quite impressive.

The timings were set at 38-48-48-128-176-2T. ASUS said that this will be more of a conceptual product that will launch in limited quantities but we can expect more CAMM2 solutions in the future.

Besides motherboards, ASUS also showcased its brand new ROG THOR 1600W Titanium III PSU which features GaN MOSFETs, a magnetic OLED display that has a detachable design & Turbo mode that pushes the fan speeds to the max. It also houses dual 12V-2×6 power connectors along with a range of other ports. ASUS also has the ROG STRIX 1000W Platinum PSU which adopts the same GaN MOSFET design and the ATX 3.1 standards.
