At Paris Fashion Week, Cecilie Bahnsen Looked to Tokyo’s Night Skies – SURFACE
Three words to describe the collection: Romantic, timeless, effortless.
Which look is your favorite? A shimmering midnight blue dress with volume lighter than air that references Homma’s Tokyo night Skye blue.
What was the inspiration? I saw Takashi Homma perform live at his exhibition “Revolution 9” at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum last year. The mood and the atmosphere stayed with me and inspired this idea of art installation, live performance, projection of his photos for the show. His music and mountain photos mixed with a beautiful abandoned Paris apartment set the scene for the show. There’s a special blue in his images of both mountains and Tokyo that I tried to capture in the collection.
Any favorite parties and events from the week? We had an intimate friends & family dinner at Hotel Grand Amour to celebrate the collaboration with The North Face. I also went to the BoF Gala—always a special way to end Paris Fashion Week.
You had a presence at New York and Copenhagen Fashion Weeks, and now Paris! Why is it important to be in each city? To connect with our growing global communities. We have many friends in New York. The opportunity to introduce our first official pop-up there felt like perfect timing. Paris Fashion Week we have been part of for the past nine ready-to-wear and pre-collection seasons. It feels very familiar now and perfect for us to bring our universe, which is so centered on craftsmanship and romance.
