At the 2024 CFDA’s, Addison Rae Proves She’s Still All About the Archival Fashion
It was two years ago when Addison Rae went from one of TikTok’s most viral stars to a fashion icon in the making, arriving to the 2022 CFDA Awards in an archival Gareth Pugh cape that shook the internet and fashion enthusiasts alike. Tonight, the pop sensation proves that despite having two hit singles on the charts, she’s still all about archival fashion—except this time, in Thom Browne.
Rae hit the carpet in a signature gray Thom Browne look. If you think you recognize the pailette-covered mermaid skirt, it’s because you probably saw it on the spring 2018 runway, when it was paired with a classic Thom Browne overcoat. Tonight however, Rae, who’s not afraid to show some skin, forewent the tailored outerwear in favor of a cinched corset that added to the hourglass illusion of the skirt. To compliment her Thom Browne outfit, Rae clutched a shell in lieu of a purse; fitting for the singer who just released her latest single “Aquamarine.”
Tonight is a big night not just for Rae, but also for designer and CFDA Chairman, Browne, who’s up for the American Womenswear Designer Award and also nominated in the menswear category. Still, whether he takes home an award or not, with Addison Rae on the red carpet in Thom Browne, he’s already a winner in our books.
