Audeze gives our favorite gaming headset a wasabi green makeover

Audeze is releasing a limited edition version of its Maxwell gaming headset, featuring a distinctive color-shifting finish that transitions from green to gold. The “Wasabi Edition,” available exclusively for Xbox, maintains the same technical specifications that earned the original Maxwell the title of our best gaming headset while offering a unique aesthetic upgrade.

This release follows last year’s Ultraviolet Edition and is part of Microsoft’s “Shimmer” collection of limited edition Xbox accessories. The new variant keeps the Maxwell’s core features intact, including its 90mm planar magnetic drivers, FILTER AI noise reduction for the microphone, and extensive 80-hour battery life with quick-charging capability.

The headset supports ultra-low latency wireless connectivity and Bluetooth 5.3 with LDAC and includes a Dolby Atmos license for spatial audio on Xbox and PC. The Wasabi Edition will be available starting October 22, 2024, priced at $329—the same as the standard Maxwell.

While the iridescent finish offers a striking new look, the fundamental audio technology remains unchanged from the original Maxwell, which, in my opinion, has established itself as a benchmark in the premium gaming headset market. Audeze hasn’t specified how many units will be produced in this limited run, so grab one while you can if you want it!
