Augustana softball heads to Orlando for 6th World Series appearance

CLAREMORE, OK (Dakota News Now) -Augustana softball cruised to victory in the Super Regionals with a 6-0 win over Rogers State. Wednesday afternoon, the Vikings secured their spot in the NCAA DII National Championships in Orlando, Florida on May 19-25.

Torri Chute and Andrea Cain combined for two home runs each and four total runs. Grace Glanzer pitched a complete game shutout and struck out four batters to help Augustana clinch its ticket to the DII National Championships. The Vikings hit the 50-win mark with Wednesday’s win.

Augustana recorded six hits in 22 at-bats and left four runners on base. The Vikings held Rogers State to three hits in 25 at-bats and left five runners on base.

Glanzer made quick work in the first inning with two strikeouts and a pop-up to Stella Harber. Augustana took the momentum and converted with a double through the left side from Chute to bring Cain across the plate for the first run of the day.

Augustana piled on another run in the second as Liz Dierks reached on a throwing error to plate Ashton Dorman. The Vikings made the game 3-0 after Chute blasted one over the fence in the third.

The Vikings took control of the plate in the fourth with a walk from Nicole Bellis and a single from Dierks. With two runners on first and second, Cain powered one to deep right-center field for a three-run home run.

Both teams exchanged hits throughout the final three innings but Augustana stood tall defensively and secured its spot in Orlando, Florida.
