Authorities shut down multiple illegal gambling facilities in Selma

DALLAS COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) – Five illegal gambling facilities in Selma have been ordered to shut down, the Alabama attorney general’s office announced Monday.

State Attorney General Steve Marshall said the facilities must cease operations, including financial transactions connected with the facility or those operating it, and the property cannot be used or accessed until further orders from the Circuit Court of Dallas County.

The following five locations have been ordered to cease operations:

• Joker 777, located at 1391 E. Highland Ave, Ste 114
• Mini Bingo, located at 113 Dallas Avenue
• Selma Charity Bingo, located at 1824 Hwy 14E
• Selma Bingo, located at 1 Hickory Road
• Lucky Duck, located at 2584 Hwy 80W

Authorities executed a total of six search warrants at facilities in the area as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, Marshall’s office said.

Officials said a search warrant was also executed at a facility located at 2535 Lewis Street, but a temporary restraining order was not issued.

“These facilities are operating with complete disregard to Alabama law. I applaud Dallas County Sheriff Granthum’s dedication to combat this blight, and willingness to invite our team to assist in addressing these criminal enterprises,” said Marshall. “The law is clear; gambling is illegal in Alabama and the Attorney General’s Office will continue to enforce the laws of this state.”

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the operation.
