Avelo Airlines Leads U.S. Carriers in Operational Excellence as December Travel Surge Approaches: New Travel Updates You Need to Know – Travel And Tour World

Friday, December 6, 2024

Avelo Airlines has revealed that it is setting the standard for operational reliability as it heads into the high-demand December holiday travel period.

So far this year, Avelo has secured the top spot for on-time performance, coupled with the lowest flight cancellation rate among U.S. carriers. These impressive statistics are sourced from Anuvu, a renowned third-party aviation data firm that also supplies data to The Wall Street Journal for its annual airline rankings.

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said, “As we enter the busy December holiday travel season, our Customers can count on Avelo to get them where they want to go on time and with their bags. Few things are more frustrating to travelers — especially during the holidays — than long flight delays and cancellations. At Avelo we understand this and have a shared passion across our team for uncompromising operational excellence. We look forward to welcoming aboard the 250,000 Customers flying with us this month and delivering the reliable, convenient and affordable travel experience that distinguishes Avelo.”

As of November 2024, Avelo Airlines has achieved a remarkable on-time performance rate, with 85.2% of its flights arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled times, surpassing the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) A14 metric for on-time arrivals. This metric, which is used to measure on-time performance in the U.S. airline industry, places Avelo ahead of major competitors such as Delta Air Lines (82.1%) and United Airlines (78.7%). Avelo’s year-to-date performance far exceeds the industry average of 76%.

In addition to its on-time success, Avelo also leads the industry with the lowest flight cancellation rate of 0.45%, well below the industry average of 1.39%. Southwest Airlines (0.85%) and Delta Airlines (1.16%) follow behind in flight cancellation rates.

Record-Breaking Holiday Travel

Avelo saw unprecedented demand during the Thanksgiving travel period, carrying a record 125,000 customers over seven days. The airline also set a new milestone on December 1, with nearly 15,000 customers flying — its busiest day since operations began in 2021.

Looking ahead, Avelo is set to carry a record 250,000 customers in December, marking its busiest month to date. This includes an estimated 150,000 customers during the peak holiday travel period from December 20 through January 5.

Expansion of Routes and Destinations

Entering the holiday season, Avelo is also celebrating its largest-ever network. In November, the airline launched 16 new routes and introduced four new destinations, including its first international routes to Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ), and Cancun, Mexico (CUN). Avelo has already announced plans for 10 additional routes starting in early 2025, which will include a third international destination, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ). Currently, Avelo operates a fleet of 20 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, serving 97 routes and connecting 50 destinations both in the U.S. and abroad.

Levy added, “With the addition of these popular new routes and destinations, travelers have more choices on Avelo than ever. And with our everyday low fares, industry-leading reliability and unrivaled convenience, getting where you want to go has never been more affordable, easier and enjoyable.”

Avelo Airlines: Redefining Convenience in Air Travel

Since its inaugural flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo Airlines has welcomed over 6 million customers and completed more than 46,000 flights. The airline now operates in 50 cities across 23 states and Puerto Rico, in addition to offering service to three international destinations: Jamaica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.

Avelo has brought a fresh approach to air travel by connecting underserved regions with routes that were previously not served by other airlines, offering greater convenience, more options, and increased competition in the industry. Many of Avelo’s destinations are served by smaller, more user-friendly airports, offering travelers a smoother, quicker, and more enjoyable travel experience compared to the congestion, long security lines, and lengthy walks common at larger airports.

Premium Travel Options and Flexible Services

Avelo offers a variety of seating options to suit every traveler’s needs. One-third of its aircraft feature Avelo Premium and Premium Economy seats, offering additional legroom from 32 inches to over 36 inches of pitch. These seats provide extra comfort for passengers who appreciate more space during their journey. Customers can also select window and aisle seats ahead of time for added convenience.

Along with its seating choices, Avelo offers a range of unbundled services, giving passengers the flexibility to pay solely for the amenities they want. These services include priority boarding, checked baggage, carry-on overhead bags, and even the option to bring a pet onboard.

Avelo takes the stress out of travel with its flexible policies. Customers can change or cancel their flights without incurring extra fees. Families traveling with children can also relax, knowing that children aged 14 and under will be automatically seated with an accompanying adult at no additional cost.
