‘Baby Reindeer’ Alleged Stalker Sues Netflix For $170M In Damages
Fiona Harvey, who claims she is the inspiration for the hit series ‘Baby Reindeer’, is suing Netflix and seeking at least $170 million in damages. After Richard Gadd turned his “true story” of being stalked by a woman into a Netflix show, the woman who allegedly inspired Martha spoke out. On ‘Piers Morgan Unscored’, Harvey denied that she was obsessed with Gadd and the only “true fact” of the show is that they met in a bar. “He didn’t offer me a cup of tea. Nobody gets anything free from The Hawley Arms. I was in for a meal with a drink of lemonade and I was very, very hungry. I’m diabetic, so very hungry,” Harvey told Morgan on the show. The 58-year-old claims Gadd interrupted her conversation with another barman, saying, “It’s pretty rude to interrupt so he seemed obsessed.” In ‘Baby Reindeer,’ Martha sends bartender Donny (played by Gadd) 41,000 emails and 250 voicemails but Harvey says this is “completely incorrect.” Harvey is now suing the streaming service, alleging defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and violations of her publicity. The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California and alleges Netflix told “brutal lies” about Harvey in ‘Baby Reindeer.’
