Baby wrapped in blankets found in shopping bag outside Longwood apartment
An infant girl was found alone outside a Longwood apartment building on Sunday morning, the NYPD says.
Police say that witnesses heard the baby crying outside of 1102 Rev. James A. Polite Avenue.
A man who claims he saw the baby said it was wrapped in blankets and in a shopping bag. He says he called 911 after taking the baby inside.
“I never thought something like this would happen in my life,” said Mamadou Hafiz Jallow.
There was no adult supervision present, police say. The baby was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition.
No arrests have been made. The circumstances surrounding how the child left outside have not yet been detailed.
