Back-To-School Shopping! Tennessee sales tax holiday weekend starts Friday
NASHVILLE, Tenn.–Tennessee’s sales tax holiday weekend starts on Friday, bringing savings to families as they prepare for a return to school.
Clothing, school supplies, and computers will be tax-free starting at 12 am Friday, July 26 through 11:59pm on Sunday, July 28. Items sold online are also eligible for the holiday.
Not all items will be exempt. Before you head out the door to go shopping, here are items which are not part of the weekend:
Clothing
-Apparel items priced at more than $100
-Items sold together, such as shoes, cannot be split up to stay beneath the $100 maximum
-Items such as jewelry, handbags, or sports and recreational equipment
School Supplies
-School and art supplies individually priced at more than $100
-Items that are normally sold together cannot be split up to stay beneath the $100 maximum
Computers
-Storage media, like flash drives and compact discs
-Individually purchased software
-Printer supplies
-Household appliances
