Highlights
- Baldur’s Gate 3’s next patch will have over 1,000 fixes and improvements.
- The patch will introduce general bug fixes, more dialogue options, enhanced reactivity, and a harder Honour Mode.
- Larian has delayed the closed beta due to a bug, but the patch is still set to go live this September.
We now have a better idea of how big Baldur’s Gate 3‘s next patch will be, with Larian confirming that it will make over 1,000 fixes and improvements to the game. The devs have also gone into more detail on what some of these fixes will entail, with the changes ranging from simple bug fixes to new story content altogether.
Going live sometime in September, Patch 7 will address some big issues, like companions not acting as intended or some conversations bugging out. But it will also add new ending cinematics, dialogue options, and reactivity to in-game decisions. On the whole, this seems to be the biggest patch yet – so much so that it’s having a closed beta period before it goes live for everyone.

Larian Leaving Baldur’s Gate 3 Behind Can’t Be Easy
Walking away from a beloved masterpiece like this is its own challenge.
That beta test was supposed to start today, but Larian pushed it back because the patch inadvertently created a new bug – passive rolls stopped working. That’s a pretty bug problem, so the patch isn’t ready to be tested by fans yet. In the meantime, Larian is tiding us over with more patch notes.
Highlights Of Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 (So Far)
- General bug fixes, like characters not responding to your decisions correctly, or some scenes not playing out at all.
- More dialogue options and extra narration. This appears to mostly centre around The Dark Urge, but Wyll, Minthara, and Karlach are getting more reactivity too.
- Honour mode will be harder, with several foes across all acts getting new abilities and legendary actions. You’ll also be able to toggle on Honour Mode features in the Custom difficulty setting.
There are far too many features for us to go over here, but even then, the blog post doesn’t include all 1,000 changes. We’ll have to wait and see what else Larian has been cooking when the patch drops this September.
In previous blog posts, we’ve been told that the patch will make Alfira a (very) temporary companion if you’re doing a Dark Urge run, and will make mods available on all platforms.
