Barcelona end 2024 summer transfer window business
Barcelona are done with their business in this summer transfer window and there will be no more signings or departures barring unforeseen last-minute changes in the market, according to multiple reports from Catalan media.
The deadline is on Friday night but the club will not make any signings due to their Financial Fair Play issues and don’t think they’ll receive offers for their current players before the deadline either, so sporting director Deco won’t be as busy as usual in the last few hours of the window.
Barça tried to make a deal with Liverpool for midfielder Stefan Bajcetic on Wednesday to replace the injured Marc Bernal, and there were rumors of a €20 million offer to Bayer Leverkusen for center-back Jonathan Tah. Both deals fell through, however, and Hansi Flick will have to stick with his current squad until January.
Only an unlikely agreement with Nike in the next few hours or a cash injection by another sponsor would allow Barça to have a chance to sign a new player and register him in time, and there is no interest from other clubs in a current member of the squad other than Eric García, who was a target of Girona before suffering a foot injury that likely killed any chance of a deal.
So with their business likely done, this is what Barça have done on the market this summer:
Arrivals: Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig, €55m), Pau Víctor (Girona, €3m).
Departures: Marc Guiu (Chelsea, €6m), Estanis Pedrola (Sampdoria, €3m), Julian Araujo (Bournemouth, €10m), Mika Faye (Rennes, €10m), Oriol Romeu (Girona, loan), Vitor Roque (Real Betis, loan), Clément Lenglet (Atlético Madrid, loan), Álex Valle (Celtic, loan), Ilkay Gündogan (Manchester City, free), Sergiño Dest (PSV Eindhoven, free), Marcos Alonso (Celta Vigo, free), Sergi Roberto (Como, free).
