Bark River-Harris volleyball swept by No. 1 Forest Park
HARRIS — Slow starts plagued Bark River-Harris volleyball as it fell to No. 1 Forest Park in 25-18, 25-18, 25-10 in a Skyline Central Conference game here Monday.
The Broncos fell behind 6-0 to start the first and third sets.
“Forest Park is a very aggressive serving team,” Broncos coach Brooke Anderson said. “They kept us on our toes and we got behind early but I was proud of our girls with how they fought back.”
The Broncos trailed 17-3 in the first set, but rallied to score 10 of the next 11 points to cut the deficit to 18-13.
The Trojans scored the next three points to extend the lead to 21-13, but the Broncos continued to fight, scoring four of the next five points to cut the deficit to 22-17.
The Trojans closed out the first set scoring three of the last four points to get the win.
In the third set the Broncos again fell behind 6-0 and were not able to close the gap as Forest Park ran away with the set.
The Broncos were led by Emma Zawada with six kills and three aces.
“Emma did a good job of getting us back into the first set,” Anderson said.
Senior Hope Varoni had four kills and two aces.
The Broncos will host Gwinn in district action on Monday.
