BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The new year is here. It’s time to work on your new body. A Baton Rouge fitness guru is helping people achieve their health goals for 2025.

Tanesha Craig-Stewart, a local fitness expert and trainer, says a popular phrase can kick things off: “Get moving.”

“A lot of people are intimidated by the gym…but you can do something you enjoy doing,” said Stewart.

Stewart says it means any activity that gets you moving. This includes walking, biking, hiking and Zumba. She also says TikTok dances are a form of exercise.

Stewart recommends an accountability partner. They can motivate you and keep you on track. Having someone who wants to see you live a long and healthy life can make a difference in your results.

The workout expert says to celebrate the small wins as you move throughout the year.

“It won’t be easy but it will be worth it. Celebrate the better habits you develop and give yourself grace,” said Stewart.

Stewart emphasizes that nutrition plays a crucial role in losing or maintaining weight. Adding food and working out is like a marriage.

“It’s like a partnership between your physical fitness and eating right. Make sure you are drinking your water. Even if you’re not a water fan, infuse your water. Your citrus, your lemon, your limes. Then also watch what you’re eating. Make sure you have your greens and your vegetables,” said Stewart.
