Bay Theatre launches Live at the Bay entertainment series

SUTTONS BAY — The Bay Community Theatre in Suttons Bay is launching a new entertainment series “Live at the Bay” featuring artists from across Michigan and the U.S.

According to an Aug. 30 news release, the series will feature artists including renowned a cappella, comedy, film accompaniment, jazz and blues performances live.

Tickets to individual shows will go on sale to the public on Aug. 31.

The fall season kicks off at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 with TBD a cappella, a popular men’s group from Detroit who use only their voices and a beatbox to recreate well-known pop hits and funny original songs.

With a repertoire including popular artists ranging from Sara Bareilles, Jason Mraz and Charlie Puth to The Eagles, Bon Jovi and James Taylor, the show will have something for all music lovers.

The series continues at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 with John Heffron, a national standup comedian and winner of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” Heffron’s humor resonates with audiences of all ages, making him a household name in the world of comedy.

“John’s humor resonates with audiences of all ages, making him a household name in the world of comedy,” the release said. “From his childhood adventures to his experiences as a married man, stepfather, and grandfather, John shares life’s funny and inspiring moments that everyone can relate to. His clean, uplifting humor doesn’t tear down life but celebrates it, making you laugh while reflecting on universal triumphs and failures.”

Popular local comedian Devin Keast who has performed at the Traverse City Comedy Fest, the Salem Comedy Festival and the World Series of Comedy will open the show.

The next event in the series at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 features Gramps the Vamp and “Nosferatu.” Back at the Bay by popular demand, Chicago-based Maxx McGathey and doom-funk band Gramps the Vamp get audiences in the Halloween spirit by playing an original composition to accompany the 1922 silent vampire film “Nosferatu” as it plays on the screen.

Individual shows are $20 each except for John Heffron, which is $25.

The fall 2024 Live at the Bay series is proudly presented by RE/MAX Bayshore and Arch Mortgage North.
