Becahi sophomore wins spot on U.S. world wrestling team

Keanu Dillard is going to Amman, Jordan to represent the United States of America.

The Bethlehem Catholic sophomore and two-time PIAA 2A champion earned a spot on the U.S. Under-17 Freestyle wrestling team over the weekend in Las Vegas.

Dillard won the 55-kilogram (121 pounds) class at the U17 world team trials at the U.S. Open event.

Dillard, who won the PIAA 121-pound championship in March, won his world team spot by defeating Slater Hicks of Valencia, Calif., two bouts to zero in the best-of-three final. Dillard did not allow a point, winning 6-0 and 4-0.

Dillard finished his sophomore year at Bethlehem Catholic at 41-5 overall.

The U-17 worlds are in the Jordanian capitol from August 19-25.
