Behind the Business: Club 4 Fitness

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) – Every new year, many people nationwide set out with one resolution in mind: staying fit. Plenty of calories are being burned at one family-owned and operated business in Gulfport.

Club 4 Fitness, located on East Pass Road, has grown across the southeastern region — especially on the Coast. January is one of the gym’s busiest months of the year as many enter 2025 aiming to tackle a healthier lifestyle.

“We first offer amazing amenities that help people hit their goals a little bit faster, but also just overall community support that we have here,” explains _. “We have people who want to learn about why you’re here and what your goals are as well as helping you push yourself to reach those goals.”

General manager Mason Campbell says it was 2002 when owner Mike Elinski opened his first location.

“First location was up in Jackson. Since then, we’ve bridged out to Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, of course, Tennessee, Florida, and now we’re starting to get Georgia.”

Club 4 officially opened its doors to Gulfport in 2018, offering free weights, cardio, classes, and more within a 32,000 sq. ft. space. However, despite the amenities, the gym can be a scary place for some — especially during the beginning of peak season. That fact isn’t lost on Campbell.

“When people sign up, it’s not just you walk up to the front desk and pick which membership you want. We sit down with you and go over why you’re here and what your goals are and what you’re trying to accomplish with us. Then, we take you around the gym, then we book you with one of our fitness professionals.”

Group classes tend to be more popular for those needing an extra push or guidance.

Club 4 operates a total of 40 locations across the southeast, 8 of which are in Mississippi.

Members can keep up with all the fitness classes offered on the Club 4 Fitness app. The gym will soon reintroduce its Shapes class — a combination of Pilates, bar, and yoga — on January 18 to the public.
