Behind the Business: Glazed Over

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —Life is what you bake it, and one local food truck’s mission is to sprinkle some sweetness on your day.

“Glazed Over” is this week’s Behind the Business.

“I’ve always wanted to have bakery shop or sweet shop and this was the next best thing.,” Deili Hester said.

The idea came to her when she was 16-years-old, “We did a class project at my school about establishing a business, and I created a whole logo, a business plan and a menu.”

Hester says one of the biggest benefits of running a food truck is letting her achieve two dreams: being a mom and running her own baking business.

“Basically I became a mom and I wanted to be able to stay home with my kids and i also wanted to provide for my family and this was a great way where I could do both,” she explained.

Over the years, the menu and logo have seen some changes, but the idea of selling treats has not.

“We have over 20 million donut toppings,” Hester said.

They offer classics like glazed and sprinkles, but they also have donuts that have multiple toppings like Oreos mixed with cookies and M&M’s.

“We really like to top with everything we can think of,” she explained.

Though “Glazed Over” is known for their donuts, that’s not all that’s offered.

“We have dirty sodas, we have lemonade, we have coffee, we have ice cream we have donuts,” Hester listed.

Hester believes that’s makes them unique from other sweet shops, besides just being on wheels. With so many flavors and so many options, Hester wants to share different desserts with the community, which is her favorite part of the job.

“Being able to share everything I make with the community, putting smile on people’s faces. Really being able to use my creativeness and come up with a million different things for everyone to try,” she said.

The food truck also provides special catering for events where they can personalize the menu. Right now you can often find the “Glazed Over” food truck at Five Points in Twin Falls or at Blue Rock Farmers Market.

But they also have big plans coming soon, “We are planning on opening a drive through location to be able to offer our large donuts. It won’t be your basic maple bar or single ring vanilla glazed donut, it will be gourmet large donuts.”
