Behind the Business: Hidden Pages

KIMBERLY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A new independently owned bookstore is open now in Kimberly. This week’s Behind the Business brings us to Hidden Pages.

Melody Mack has always had her nose in a book.

“I love books, I love reading a good story, and I think it’s really important, you can learn a lot from books, what to do and what not to do, and I think it’s just really fun to just get into a different story and a different world, leave the existing one for a little bit and enjoy a different reality,” said Melody Mack, the owner.

When the opportunity to open her own bookstore came about, it was a no-brainer.

“I originally opened with DAP Books in Twin Falls last year and I was there for a few months, and I was underneath a publishing company, and we decided to part ways, and so I ended up finding this building and decided to open my own independent bookstore,” said Mack.

Hidden Pages, located at 129 and a half Main Street in Kimberly, Hidden Pages features mostly used books, however, all of them are in excellent condition and are all for a very decent price.

They also pride themselves on featuring local authors as well.

“I’ve got quite a few that have their books on the shelves in here and I try to help promote their books and have events for them, you know it’s really hard when you are getting out there and trying to get your name out there, so I thought this was something that I could try to do for people,” said Mack.

She says she prides herself on making her bookstore welcome and comfortable for people, so they can love reading and books as much as she does.

“Part of my vision for this place was yes, you’re here to shop, and get books and that kind of a thing, but I also wanted it to be comfortable for the community, I wanted it to be somewhere that you could come and just be, and there is no pressure, I’m not going to pressure you to buy from me, yes that’s great, but also I want to meet you, I want to hear your story, and I think that is something that the community really needs there’s not really a lot of that anymore,” said Mack.

You can visit Hidden Pages at 129 and a half Main Street in Kimberly, Wednesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
