Beloved Travel Channel star dead at 64 after battle with rare disease

A beloved travel journalist who traversed 103 countries across seven continents during her decades-long career has tragically died aged 64.

Valarie D’Elia, who worked with NY1 and the Travel Channel, lost her 18-month battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) on Tuesday.

The condition is degenerative and impacts the brain and spinal cord. It has no cure.
