It’s no secret that the ASUS ROG Ally is one of the most popular handheld gaming devices out there. The system is perfect for anyone looking for a portable Xbox Game Pass machine or a way to play Steam games on the go. With two models available, the ROG Ally is definitely one of your best options for a handheld PC.
Alongside Amazon Prime Day, Best Buy is hosting its own Black Friday in July sale. One of the best deals available so far is the ASUS ROG Ally Z1 Extreme for $549.99, but be sure to check it out before it’s too late, as the sale ends at midnight!

Right off the bat, you’re getting a handheld PC that’s able to run almost every new game out there. The ASUS ROG Ally outperforms the Steam Deck in every area, with faster performance and higher frame rates overall. You can play some of the biggest games on the market, like Fortnite, with ease, as the ROG Ally will run at close to max settings with its Z1 Extreme processor.
Additionally, the 7-inch display is sharp, providing a crisp 1080p image. The best part of this display is undoubtedly the 120Hz refresh rate, allowing every game to run smooth at 120fps. Overall, this is an excellent deal if you’re interested in the handheld PC market.
What We Said in Our Review
In our review of ROG Ally, we said that it’s “perfect for playing on the go in any condition. Alongside its powerful set of specs and a fierce price tag, the ROG Ally might actually be the Steam Deck competitor we’ve been anticipating.”
Is the ROG Ally Worth Buying At This Price?
We’d say the ROG Ally is certainly worth the money at this price. Matching the all-time low for the Z1 Extreme model at $549, we don’t expect to see this dip any lower for the foreseeable future. (At least until Black Friday.)
The ROG Ally X is set to release next week, and this new Ally features improved battery life, more storage, and more RAM. However, the performance between this model and the 2023 model is expected to be minimal as both utilize the Z1 Extreme chip. Plus, this model is priced at $799, which is $250 more than the asking price of the ROG Ally at Best Buy today.
If you’re okay with not having phenomenal battery life, we’d say go for the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme while it’s on sale. However, if you’re constantly on the go without access to power outlets, it might be worth shelling out the extra $250 to get the ROG Ally X when it arrives in late July.
