BFC reveals Fashion Award nominees for 2024, Jonathan Anderson up for multiple awards

The British Fashion Council announced on Tuesday the nominees for the 2024 Fashion Awards, celebrating the very best in British and international design talent, with Jonathan Anderson nominated for three awards.

Taking place on Monday, December 2, at Royal Albert Hall, in London, the BFC revealed award categories this year will include Designer of the Year, Model of the Year, British Menswear Designer, British Womenswear Designer, New Establishment Menswear, New Establishment Womenswear and British Accessories Designer, which is a category-first at these awards.

For the Designer of the Year category, which “recognises a British or international designer whose innovative collections have made a notable impact on the industry, defining the shape of global fashion,” the nominees are Chemena Kamali for Chloé; John Galliano for Maison Margiela; Jonathan Anderson for JW Anderson and Loewe; Miuccia Prada for Miu Miu; Pieter Mulier for Alaïa; and Rick Owens.

The British Menswear Designer nominees are Craig Green; Grace Wales Bonner for Wales Bonner; Jonathan Anderson for JW Anderson and Loewe; Kiko Kostadinov; Kim Jones for Dior Men; and Martine Rose, with the British Womenswear Designer nominees revealed as Erdem Moralıoglu for Erdem; Jonathan Anderson for JW Anderson and Loewe; Maximilian Davis for Ferragamo; Roksanda Ilinčić for Roksanda; and Simone Rocha.

The New Establishment Menswear category, which “recognises a menswear designer who has created a new movement in British fashion and has had a sustained impact on the industry globally,” boasts nominees Aaron Esh; Foday Dumbuya for Labrum London; Nicholas Daley; Priya Ahluwalia for Ahluwalia; Stefan Cooke and Jake Burt for Stefan Cooke.

Equally, in the New Establishment Womenswear, where like the men, “designers are chosen based on the showcasing of their collections, their business growth, and the international headlines driven by their work,” the nominees include Dilara Fındıkoğlu; Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena for Chopova Lowena; Jawara Alleyne; Laura and Deanna Fanning for Kiko Kostadinov; and Marco Capaldo for 16Arlington.

The British Accessories Designer category, and awards newcomer, is made up of Anna Jewsbury for Completedworks; Helen Kirkum for Helen Kirkum Studio; Jack Cannon and Joe Gelb for Hatton Labs; Rosh Mahtani for Alighieri; and Stephen Jones.

Lastly, the Model of the Year nominees are Alex Consani; Alva Claire; Amelia Gray; Anok Yai; Liu Wen; and Mona Tougaard.

This year’s nominees were selected by a jury of key press and buyers, with winners chosen by a voting committee of 1,000 industry members, who will all vote on the winners, to be revealed on the night, in the English capital in early December.

The 2024 awards will also include the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, Outstanding Achievement Award, Fashion Icon as well as several Special Recognition Awards for exceptional contribution to the fashion industry. Additionally, the event will recognise 50 of the most innovative and inspiring young creative talent from around the world as part of New Wave: Creatives, the BFC added.
