Biggest storylines for Panthers vs. Cardinals in Week 16
Sunday could be judgment day in Charlotte.
Cardinals running back James Conner has been one of, if not the most elusive rusher in the NFL this season. The two-time Pro Bowler enters Week 16 on 217 carries for 973 yards and seven touchdowns while also having factored in through the air, with 41 catches for 361 yards and a score over 48 targets.
Conner’s efficiency is a particularly poor matchup for the Panthers, who boast the absolute worst run defense in the league. Carolina has allowed 173.0 rushing yards per game, 29.3 more than the next closest unit, and will be without starting inside linebacker Trevin Wallace as well as his replacement in Claudin Cherelus.
If the Panthers can’t finally make a stand on the ground, then we can say “Hasta la vista, baby” to their chances.
