Billboard Partners With CJ ENM to Reinforce K-Pop’s Global Influence
Billboard and Billboard Korea have joined forces with CJ ENM to expand the global influence of the K-pop industry.
The entertainment company behind KCON and MAMA AWARDS has inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Billboard and Billboard Korea, ahead of the first Billboard Korea print issue mid-year. Harry H.K. Shin, Head of Music Entertainment at CJ ENM, sat down with Billboard President Mike Van and Billboard Korea CEO & Publisher Yuna Kim at CJ ENM’s Seoul office on Thursday (April 18) to discuss various strategic relationships to reinforce and expand the influence of K-pop around the world. Under the partnership, Billboard, Billboard Korea and CJ ENM will continue their efforts to promote K-pop contents to the global audience.
Billboard Korea Volume 1 is scheduled for release in June.
In collaboration with Billboard U.S., Billboard Korea is set to roll out various content strategies, including publishing monthly digital covers of K-pop musicians as well as kicking off global promotions to support global activities of K-pop artists.
In a joint statement, Van and Kim expressed, “CJ ENM’s KCON and MAMA AWARDS serve as excellent platforms for bridging artists with global K-pop enthusiasts, aligning with Billboard‘s vision. We anticipate diverse partnerships between the two entities in the future, including endeavors to unearth talented artists worldwide.”
Billboard Korea adds to the list of the publication’s international editions, including Billboard Japan, Billboard Arabia, Billboard Español, Billboard Brasil and others.
