A gym chain with locations in Massachusetts is going through big changes.

Blink Fitness, a low-cost gym chain with locations around the country, filed for bankruptcy protection Monday. The company, which has more than 100 locations nationwide, said it will look to sell the business.

The gym plans to close 10% of its locations as part of its restructuring process, a Blink Fitness spokesperson said in a statement to the USA Today Network.

The chain is known for its affordability, offering memberships that cost anywhere between $15 and $45 per month.

Here’s what to know about how it will affect the gym’s Massachusetts locations.

Where is Blink Fitness in Massachusetts?

Blink Fitness, which filed for bankruptcy Monday, has two locations in Massachusetts.

The gym chain has a location on Salem Street in Medford and one on Dodge Street in Beverly.

Which Blink Fitness locations will close?

The Blink Fitness gyms in Massachusetts will not be impacted by the company’s bankruptcy filing as they are franchise locations, a spokesperson told the USA Today Network.

“Importantly, franchised locations are separate legal entities and are not part of the court-supervised process. We do not expect this process to impact our franchise partners,” the company wrote on its website.

The chain is planning to close 10% of its locations across the country, a spokesperson said.

“The gyms that are closing are non-core to Blink’s footprint and predominantly located outside of the New York City metro area,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

The company also said the members and staff at impacted locations have already been notified of the closures.
