Blinn run-rules Florence-Darlingen to advance in JUCO World Series
GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado (KBTX) – The Blinn baseball team run-ruled Florence-Darlingen 17-7 in 5 innings in game two of the JUCO World Series Tuesday night.
Ethan Gonzalez’s two-run home run in the fifth inning sealed the run-rule victory for the Bucs.
The Buccaneers had five home runs in the game. Caden Ferraro had two (a solo shot in the second and a two-run shot in the third inning). Connor McGinnis had a solo shot to go back-to-back after Ferraro in the second inning.
Cade Climie opened up the scoring by hitting his third home run of this year’s World Series in the first inning. Climie also had an RBI single in the fourth inning.
Tanner Reaves had 3 RBI (a 2 RBI single in the first and an RBI sac fly in the fourth inning). Tony Vernars had a 2 RBI single in the first inning as the Bucs took a commanding 6-0 lead in the opening frame.
Former A&M Consolidated star Brandon Bishop had an RBI bunt in the fifth inning to take a 14-7 lead. Coy DeFury had an RBI ground out that later scored Bishop.
The Stingers scored five runs in the third inning to pull within a run 8-7.
Blinn advances to take on Georgia Highlands at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
