Blue Devils Travel to No. 1 Stanford Sunday – Duke University
DURHAM, N.C. – Duke men’s soccer (3-2-1, 1-1-0 ACC) heads to the West Coast for the second time this season, traveling to take on No. 1 Stanford (7-1-0, 2-0-0 ACC) on Sunday evening. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ACCNX.
MATCHUP NOTES
- Duke and Stanford meet for the second time in program history, as the Blue Devils lead the all-time series 1-0-0, winning the only matchup in 1987, 2-1, in overtime.
- Sunday’s contest marks the first ACC match on the Farm for the Cardinal, one of three new members to the league in 2024.
BY THE NUMBERS
14 – Goals scored against Averett at Koskinen Stadium tied a program record for most goals scored in a single contest.
10 – Duke has won 10-plus contests in 10 of the 16 completed seasons under Kerr.
7 – Seven different Blue Devils registered their first career goals in 2024, including five against Averett.
3 – Graduate Adam Luckhurst tallied three goals against Averett netting his first career hat trick in his first game in Koskinen Stadium.
FIRST TOUCH
- The Blue Devils head to the West Coast for the second time this season, posting a 1-0-1 record in California. Duke tied San Diego, 2-2 to begin the season, before defeating UC San Diego, 3-2 to cap off the season-opening weekend.
- Duke looks to rebound from a heartbreaking loss to then-ranked No. 11 North Carolina at Koskinen Stadium. The Blue Devils scored first in that match, as Adam Luckhurst notched his fourth goal of the campaign. Late in the first half, North Carolina tied the game, before securing a late goal in the second half to down Duke, 2-1.
THE ACC CONTINUES TO DOMINATE
- Heading into the third weekend of play for the Atlantic Coast Conference, six programs are ranked in the United Soccer Coaches top 25 poll, while two are receiving votes.
- Stanford (1), Pittsburgh (2), Clemson (4), North Carolina (6), Virginia Tech (13), and NC State (24) are ranked, while SMU and Notre Dame are receiving votes. Duke plays or has played seven of those eight programs in 2024.
