Bluetooth 6.0 brings a new key feature, ‘Channel Sounding,’ that could make it easy and quick to locate lost items
Bluetooth 6.0 was released last week. The latest version is packed with some new prominent features that could greatly improve the experience of devices by enhancing the existing features and their capabilities. While many key upgrades have made their way to the new version, the one that has caught our eye and that of the tech community is the “Channel Sounding” feature.
The Channel Sounding feature is aimed at bringing true distance awareness with the help of its ability to calculate distance with high precision. Even if the distance is long, with this new technology, the devices could detect location and achieve centimeter-level accuracy. The benefit of this would be substantial for users could rely more on the given location given its precision and could be expanded to various devices and accessories.
While there is little information on when Bluetooth 6.0 will be available for devices, hardware manufacturers and developers are able to access it for now. It normally takes a while for the technology to be integrated into products as it has to first be tested and then the hardware has to be made ready to support the new version. Keeping the process in view, Apple and other companies might see the version being rolled out to their devices at least a year from now.
