The Denver Broncos have gotten little production from any of their wide receivers not named Courtland Sutton this season.
Sutton, 29, has been quarterback Bo Nix’s favorite target, hauling in 36 receptions for 499 yards and two touchdowns through nine games.
“[Sutton] is just competing at a high level,” Nix said after the team’s loss in Baltimore. “He’s taking ownership in that room. He’s really taking pride and value, and he’s playing with a lot of passion right now. He believes he owes that to himself.
“He works really hard throughout the week to go out there and perform. He’s working really hard at it, and I can see that each and every week, so I’m happy for him. As the leader that he is – the captain – he’s holding up his end and I respect that out of him.”
Sutton is on pace for a 68-catch, 953-yard, four-touchdown season in 2024. Those totals would rank second, second and third among his all-time best seasons. Now in his seventh season, Sutton remains Mr. Reliable for the Broncos.
