Bompastor delivers update on Sam Kerr fitness
Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor spoke to the press for the first time at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday afternoon and provided an update on the fitness of Sam Kerr.
The Australian international has been sidelined since January after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury (ACL) during our warm weather camp in Morocco.
And although Bompastor could not say when our forward, who recently signed a new two-year contract with the Blues, will be back on the pitch, the new head coach did share how it has been to work with Kerr since arriving in London.
‘It’s difficult for me to give you good feedback of when she will be on the pitch – maybe later because we still need to speak with the medical staff,’ Bompastor said.
‘I just met Sam 10 days ago and during the summer I was talking and having some conversations with her on the phone.
‘She’s in a good place right now; I can see her smiling around the team. Even though she was injured, she really feels part of the team and you know how talented she is and how much experience she has.
‘She’s a really good teammate and a really good person, and I think that is great for me to have her. I’m a lucky manager to have Sam Kerr in my squad.’
