Bonucci expects ‘entertainment’ from Thiago Motta and reveals Chiesa stance

Legendary former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci says that he expects to be ‘entertained’ by new Bianconeri coach Thiago Motta, and has also issued a word of advice for Italy star Federico Chiesa amidst uncertainty over his long-term future in Turin.

Bonucci gave a brief interview to Sky Sport Italia on Sunday while in attendance for the Giffoni Film Festival in Campania.

During his chat with the media, Bonucci explained that he feels Juventus have already improved this summer after the acquisitions of Michele Di Gregorio, Douglas Luiz, Khephren Thuram and Juan Cabal.

He also expects Thiago Motta to bring an exciting brand of football with him after his success with Bologna last term.

“Staying away from Juventus, emotionally speaking, is impossible for me. It was and is part of my football faith and as part of my life as a footballer,” Bonucci told Sky.

“Thiago Motta has a strong squad, one that has improved with the purchases made. He will entertain us and I hope he can return to fighting for the Scudetto, right from the start and until the very end.

“I am sure he will demonstrate his value. He has the hallmarks of a great coach.”

Bonucci also admitted that Federico Chiesa needs to reassess his priorities and objectives ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, but says that he does eventually stay on with Juventus, despite links with a move away from the Allianz Stadium this summer.

“I think he needs to understand what it is that he wants. In recent years, he had difficulties in terms of physicality and character, now he needs to take another step to become a top player. I hope he will be at Juventus,” Bonucci said.
