Layoffs: Stellantis

Spirit AeroSystems is laying off several hundred employees in Wichita, KS, due to high debt and reduced production rates. According to an internal memo, about 400 workers will be affected by the cuts, although the exact number remains unconfirmed. Spokesman Joe Buccino cited the slowdown in commercial program deliveries as the reason for the workforce reduction and emphasized the company’s commitment to handling the transition compassionately. The layoffs follow previous measures to limit overtime and hiring.


Hiring: BlueHalo

BlueHalo is expanding its operations in Montgomery County, MD, with a new 57,000 square-foot facility in Germantown. This expansion will create 200 high-quality jobs across Montgomery, Anne Arundel, and Howard counties, increasing BlueHalo’s statewide workforce to 600. The Maryland Department of Commerce and Montgomery County are supporting the project with financial incentives. Maryland’s Governor Moore emphasized the importance of investing in innovation and praised BlueHalo’s role in enhancing state competitiveness and security. BlueHalo’s COO, Trip Ferguson, highlighted the company’s commitment to technical superiority and its strong partnerships with state and local officials.
