Boston College Men’s Basketball Falls to VCU in Disappointing Fashion
The Boston College men’s basketball team traveled to Annapolis, Maryland on Friday night to take on the 1-0 VCU Rams, looking to play a much cleaner game then they did in their opener against The Citadel.
BC could never get their offense flowing in the slightest, shooting low-percentage shots, turning the ball over constantly and finishing with just four assists on the night.
They were able to keep the highly efficient VCU offense at bay for most of the first half, but it didn’t matter as they only managed to make nine field goals on 28 shots with just one made three in the first 20-minutes.
The Rams held a 31-20 advantage going into the break in what was a very sloppy half on both ends.
The second half was very different from the first half for the Rams on offense, and the Eagles were not able to match.
VCU started the half on a 11-to-3 run in the first four minutes coming out of half. The Eagles continuously gave up live ball turnovers, and even when their offense was able to find a bucket, they were not matching with great defensive effort throughout the half.
Somehow, the Eagles managed to shoot worse in the second half, going just 8-for-30 from the field in the second 20; whereas the Rams found their footing – scoring 47 points shooting over 50-percent from the field.
The Rams were able to expand their lead to a high of 30 and finished the game winning by a score of 80-55.
The Eagles finished the night shooting 29-percent from the field, 18-percent from three and the same number of turnovers (17) as made field goals (17) in an overall disastrous offensive output.
BC will be back in Conte Forum a week from tonight to face the Temple Owls looking to bounce back from their performance.
