Boys & Girls Club of Portage County hosting teen job fair Wednesday in Stevens Point
STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) – If your teen is looking for a summer job, maybe even their first summer job, they can get a taste of all the options at an event tomorrow in Portage County. Wednesday afternoon, the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County will be hosting its 3rd year of the YouthForce Job Fair and Career Showcase.
There will be over 40 employers and organizations participating. The vendors represent a wide range of industries from food service to health care. Some of them include well-known employers like Sentry World, Festival Foods, Fleet Farm, McDonalds, and many more. It’s an opportunity for any teen in the portage county area to explore potential career paths.
“A lot of times, teens don’t have direct access to the employers that are offering jobs for after school and also careers after they graduate. So, this is an event focused really on connecting the teens directly with the employers,” said Jeremy Higgins, Director of Workforce Development, Boys & Girls Club of Portage County.
There will even be free food and lots of giveaways and prizes. An employer will also be offering virtual reality simulations to simulate different workplace jobs. The event is free, and you do not need to be a club member to attend. It starts at 3p.m. on Wednesday and goes until 5 at the Berard Center.
The Berard Center is located at 941 Michigan Ave, Stevens Point,
