Brandy wants to be in the ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ reboot: ‘Give me a call’

Brandy is ready to re-enter the world of I Know What You Did Last Summer — she’s just waiting on the phone call.

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress and singer expressed interest in joining Sony’s upcoming reboot of the 1997 slasher movie that famously starred Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Brandy played Hewitt’s roommate, Karla, in the 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, and she has a message for her old castmates.

“I need them to give me a call because I survived in that movie!” she said. “I came out in the end, bloodied up, ready to go. I did not die in that film.” She added, “Jennifer, Freddie, hit me up.”

The “Sittin’ Up In My Room” and “The Boy Is Mine” singer had apparently been unaware that the IKWYDLS revival was happening, but now she’s intrigued. “I didn’t know Sony was putting that together,” she said. “That’s interesting!”

Entertainment Weekly reported last year that Hewitt, who played final girl Julie James, and Prinze, who played Julie’s boyfriend, Ray, were in talks to star in a new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

The cast is also expected to includes Camila Mendes of Riverdale, Outer Banks‘ Madelyn Cline, the live-action Little Mermaid‘s Jonah Hauer-King, Tiny Beautiful Things‘ Sarah Pidgeon, and Atlanta‘s Tyriq Withers.

The chill-inducing flick is slated to hit theaters theaters July 18, 2025.

In the meantime, Brandy can currently be seen Disney’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, in which she reprises her role as Cinderella from 1997’s Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
