Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo goes into 2nd weekend with more animals, entertainment

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – It’s going to be a packed weekend at the Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo.

Starting Friday, families can enjoy the rodeo, carnival, vendors, concerts, animal exhibits, and educational activities.

One of those activities is the Farm Bureau bus in the expo center. It shows how agriculture is incorporated in everyday life through games and illustrations.

Another interactive activity is the AgLand barn. It’s a free experience allowing children to learn more about agriculture and meet a variety of animals like goats, deer, a zebra, and a kangaroo.

“Seeing more people learn about the industry that I love really shows how important it is. Especially now because a lot of kids, especially, don’t know where their food comes from, where their clothes come from. So, learning more about agriculture really helps educate the public,” Brazos Valley Fair & Rodeo junior ambassador Riley Stokes said.

More animals will be in action during the weekend with the Extreme Dogs Stunt Show, Sealion Splash Show, and the Swifty Swine Pig Races.

In addition, there will be musical performances throughout the weekend. Bart Crow will perform Friday, Lonestar will headline Saturday and Grupo Secretto will conclude the weekend Sunday.

For $5 off tickets, attendees can donate five canned or shelf-stable items to the Brazos Valley Food Bank. For example: Canned corn or green beans, and soup.

This is the first time the food bank is partnering with the Fair & Rodeo to kick off the holiday giving season.

There will be food bank bins located at the entrance for people to drop off donations. In return, a food bank representative will give you a fair bucks coupon that can be taken to the ticket booth to get the discount.
