Bridge work on I-95 to impact weekend travel in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT)—This weekend, drivers in the City of Richmond should be aware of bridge work impacting travel.

VDOT is continuing bridge work on East Broad Street (Route 250) over Interstate 95; expect delays from 8 p.m. Friday, June 21, through 6 a.m. Monday, June 24.

VDOT will close multiple lanes of I-95 this weekend to replace a bridge, which may lead to significant traffic delays for drivers.

Those traveling northbound and southbound on I-95 at mile marker 74 will face reduced lanes in each direction.

“Broad Street in both directions at the bridge over I-95 will also be closed through the weekend. Pedestrian access on Broad Street will remain available,” VDOT said.

To avoid delays, detour routes around the work zone are I-295, I-195, Route 288, and Route 1/301.
