Broadway Market to bring food hall, entertainment space to Downtown Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A project is currently in the works to bring a food hall and entertainment space to Downtown Lubbock.

Robert Taylor and Aric Lampert are investors in the Broadway Market project. It looks to offer residents a place to eat with multiple craft kitchens, as well as an office space on the second floor, a rooftop bar, and more.

Taylor said this is needed for an ever-growing area.

“Lubbock is becoming a major city whether people in Lubbock that have been here a long time realize it or not,” Taylor said. “They need a variety of entertainment options, they need gathering places, they need places where you say let’s just go down and meet about this.”

The market, which also looks to provide live entertainment, is located right in front of the Lubbock Downtown Park.

That project is expected to break ground next year, which Lampert said could help those who view Lubbock as a temporary stay, look at it as a permanent home.

“I think Lubbock is a great city to go to school, and then it’s a great place to raise a family,” Lampert said. “There’s kind of a gap in between that I see sometimes that college kids after college decide they want to leave and I kind of want to change that.”

While there’s not an opening day currently scheduled, more work is underway to make this plan for Downtown Lubbock become a reality.

“I think downtown is usually considered, in all cities that I’ve been to, is considered the one place that the whole city owns,” Taylor said. “It’s home for everybody.”

The tentative plan is to have Broadway Market open by the end of 2025 or early 2026. Both investors said a lot of work is currently being done to make this a reality.

“Downtown could really become an incredible space that could compete with just about anybody,” Lampert said. “We’re really excited about that.”
