Bruce Springsteen Leaves Local Business Owner Starstruck After Placing Massive Order

Bruce Springsteen left the staff at a Jersey Shore restaurant starstruck recently when he stopped by to place a sizable to-go order—though not everybody realized they were in the presence of rock royalty.

As NJ.com reported, Springsteen stopped by Max’s Bar and Grill in Long Branch on Saturday, Aug. 10, to pick up a particularly large to-go order: five dozen hot dogs.

“He came in, and the hostess was young and didn’t know who he was,” said bar manager Mary Kate Schiller.

“I was like oh, hello,” Schiller said. “And I tried hard, I tried really, really hard, to treat him like a normal guy.”

Schiller was momentarily confused when Springsteen ordered five dozen uncooked hot dogs, along with buns, sauerkraut, and the restaurant’s signature spicy red relish.

“They come in packs of eight and I’m horrible at math,” Schiller said.

After filling the star’s order, Schiller found the courage to ask for a photo.

“I said, ‘Sir, my parents will be so mad at me if I don’t get a picture of you,’ and he was gracious,” she said, adding, “He looks the same from the last row in Met Life stadium as he does in person.”

This isn’t the first time the musician has visited Max’s Bar and Grill. During the pandemic, he mentioned the eatery on a radio broadcast as a place he missed visiting during lockdown.

Jeremy Allen White will play Springsteen in the upcoming movie Deliver Me From Nowhere, based on the nonfiction book of the same name by Warren Zanes. A premiere date has yet to be announced, but filming is expected to begin this fall, according to Esquire.
