Burglary investigated at downtown business

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Employees at a new business in downtown Huntington are picking up what’s left of their store front door after the shop was burglarized early Thursday morning.

Nicholas Marie, owner of Buddy’s Bud Co. on Fourth Avenue, says somebody threw a brick through the glass front door sometime after 3 a.m.

“It was kind of bound to happen. That’s a big glass door that is just screaming opportunity for somebody to break,” Marie said.

Marie opened the shop in November of 2024 and is frustrated with the burglary he was alerted to on Thursday morning. Surveillance video shows the moment the suspect threw the brick through the glass door. The suspect then enters the shop and walks behind the counter but can’t get their hands on anything of value. The suspect then leaves through the broken glass door.

“The window is shattered so, obviously, that’s annoying. But the key thing is, they didn’t take anything. I don’t know what their point was besides to ruin my day,” Marie said.

Marie is now on the hunt for a new door to replace what was broken in the burglary, but still plans to remain open as usual.

“Definitely not closed. That’s kind of one of the biggest things I want to stress is like, hey, we’re still open for business. We’re going to do whatever we’ve got to do to be here and stay here. We just don’t have a door,” Marie said.

Huntington Police tell us they have not made any arrests related to the incident.
