Business briefs | Pathway to Payday workshops help with attaining jobs; Schatzi’s to close shop
Pathway to Payday has four-day free workshops
Are you looking for a job? Do you want an opportunity to interview with multiple employers that are hiring?
The city of Eureka’s Pathway to Payday program is offering a free four-day employment workshop series for community members, put on by the Community Access Project for Eureka in partnership with the Betty Kwan Chinn Homeless Foundation. The series focuses on creating successful applications, resumes and improving interview skills. It offers participants the opportunity to interview with real employers for real jobs.
Businesses across a variety of industries will be participating.
The Attire for Hire closet is available to all participants in need of interview clothing. Lunch and a light breakfast will be provided each day.
This event is taking place at the Betty Kwan Chinn Day Center at 133 7th Street in Eureka on Nov. 4-7 from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants will also meet with staff the week prior to the workshop to create or polish their resume, sign up for the businesses they’d like to interview with, and complete applications in preparation for their interviews.
Mall store Schatzi’s to close in January
The Bayshore Mall shop Schatzi’s Hidden Treasures announced this week that it plans to permanently close in January 2025.
It is with both sadness and gratitude that Schatzi’s Hidden Treasures announces its permanent closure after over 15 years of dedicated service to the community. The shop will officially close its doors in January 2025.
The store originally opened in 2009 and offered “curated gifts from around the world, and becoming a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike,” the company said in a news release.
“This decision was not made lightly, but after careful consideration of the changing landscape and personal circumstances, we felt it was the right time to say goodbye,” said Timotek Schneider-Reuter, the owner, in the release. “We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received over the years, and we will forever cherish the memories and connections we’ve made.”
Schatzi’s is having special sales and events in the coming months to celebrate its history and show appreciation to customers, the company said.
