Business continues to grow for Lawry’s Pasty Shop in Marquette
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – A family-run pasty shop in Marquette continues to grow after many years in business.
Adora Lawry, the manager of Lawry’s Pasty Shop in Marquette says the business has been open now for nearly 79 years.
After a record-breaking year in 2023, Lawry says the business continued to grow in 2024. While they don’t have specific numbers for the year, they do know that in December they saw a record number of orders for mini pasties, pies and holiday shipping.
Lawry says they pride themselves on making the same pasties her grandmother made in the forties.
“I’m really proud of the fact that we can say that we use the same ratios we always did, we use the same ingredients we always did, the same methods. We still make everything by hand just like my grandma did. We cut all of our meat, in store, every day. Everything is as fresh as you can possibly get it,” Lawry said. “I think grandma would be really proud of the pastie and the product that we’re still giving out today…it’s still hers and it’s still made with love in our kitchen every day.”
Lawry says that no matter how big the business gets, there will always be a Lawry there making pasties.
