Business hosting toy, food drive for humane society
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – A Jonesboro business wants to make sure everyone has a happy holiday, including our four-legged friends.
Emerson Ambulance Service is hosting a food and toy drive for the NEA Humane Society.
Eric White, an EMT and public relations manager for Emerson, said while food drives for humans are important during the holiday season, sometimes our furry friends are forgotten.
“We’re all animal lovers. We all have animals,” he said of his coworkers. “I have two, and I would die for them. So, we want to do something to help them during the holiday season.”
This is the second year Emerson has hosted the drive. White said the drive collected $5-7,000 last year.
“We had an ambulance worth of food, toys, dog beds,” he said. “People were so generous. There were many companies in Craighead County and Paragould that helped.”
This year, they hope to collect even more.
“This year, we’re adding on horse food because they’ve started taking in equines,” he said. “So, we’re doing horse food. There’s horse toys out there. We’re trying to get a little bit of everything.”
Those wishing to donate can drop off items at Emerson Ambulance Service on 1703 E. Nettleton Ave.
You can also contact Becky McAdoo or Eric White for pickups as well.
The deadline for the food drive will be Dec. 26.
