Business Insider 2024: A year in review
The last 12 months at Business Insider have undoubtedly been busy! We published scoops and hard-hitting investigative pieces that set the news agenda across our focus areas of business, tech, and innovation.
Our journalism won dozens of awards this year, including a National Magazine Award, a Murrow Award, a Hillman Award, a Bartlett and Steele Award, and an Excellence in Financial Journalism Award.
We also welcomed our new Editor in Chief, Jamie Heller, who is leading our global newsroom to deliver daily excellence for our readers.
This year, our most-read story was of a W-2 employee explaining how he used real estate to reduce federal taxes on his $300,000 salary by 99%, and the most-watched video was about the 18 surprising, billion-dollar food industries.
At Business Insider, we are using AI in ways that help us operationally while continuing to rely on old-fashioned reporting to tell our person-first stories that explore the human experience. For example, we switched to a paywall that utilizes AI which resulted in 300% more registrations and 75% more conversions compared to the control in our testing period.
As part of our rebrand to Business Insider, our advertising team launched a campaign reinforcing that business journalism and advertisements don’t have to be boring. These efforts have helped us close more multi-million dollar partnerships than ever before, enabling brands to reach you – our highly engaged, ambitious audience.
In a divided political landscape, Business Insider is valued across party lines. And we are seeing a 74% increase in time spent on-site compared with a year ago.
In 2025, we’ll stay committed to delivering thought-provoking stories on business, technology, and innovation, and we hope that you will continue on this journey with us.
