Hills Bank recently promoted Bethany MW Gorsch to senior vice president, treasury management, and Christel Muth to commercial business analyst, officer, both in the Iowa City office.

Appointments

Gale Mote will join the Trees Forever board of directors in February 2025.

Etherton Muchirahondo has joined the board of directors at His Hands Free Clinic.

Collins updates avionics systems: Collins Aerospace, a division of RTX in Cedar Rapids, has unveiled an upgrade to avionics systems in the Beechcraft King Air and Hawker aircraft.

“Collins’ flight deck modernization program provides pilots the intuitive and responsive flight deck performance needed to operate in ever-evolving and complex global airspaces,” said Nathan Voight, Collins vice president and general manager of business and regional avionics.

The Pro Line Fusion system features touch screen displays, synthetic vision, enhanced navigation and tools for simplified flight planning. The system also integrates advanced communication, navigation and surveillance technologies.

The Pro Line 21 system provides a digital cockpit with high-resolution displays and streamlined communication and navigation capabilities designed to reduce pilot workload.

Small business of the week: U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, recently named Sully Locker & Market of Jasper County as her small business of the week.

The locker opened in the farming community of Sully in central Iowa in 1946. In the spring of 2020, Rick and Cheryl Nikkel bought and expanded the business, which processes more than 850 cattle annually. The locker also offers groceries and Cheryl Nikkel’s homemade soups and dips. The Nikkels opened the Sully Meat Market in Ankeny in April 2023.

Ernst, the ranking member on the Senate’s Small Business Committee, is naming one exceptional small business of the week in each of Iowa’s counties during this congressional session.
