BROOKLAND, Ark. (KAIT) – In a few weeks, many will be lighting up the fireworks for the Fourth of July, but businesses warn that not paying attention can get you hurt.

Kaden’s Fireworks in Brookland has been in operation for 14 years, and through those years, the business has seen upwards of 3,000 people leading up to the holiday.

Owner and Operator Kaden Turner said this time of year, it’s important to know where you store your fireworks, especially with children out of school.

Turner recommends storing your fireworks in a dry and cool place.

“So maybe, you know, a good storage closet or something like that,” he said. “If you have a lot of people have a mud or a laundry room, somewhere that’s going to be a safe and just to drop place just kind of out of the way.”

Turner said one of the most common mistakes people make when lighting fireworks is not following the directions.

He said whether the fireworks are big or small, it’s important to read on the packaging how to use them.

“I know everybody’s having fun, but just taking that time to really double check and make sure you’re being safe other than sorry, in the long run, it really helps,” Turner said.

He said even when people are having fun, do not prioritize that fun over safety.
